RNMU conducts CPD trainings contributing to continuous improvement of nurses and midwives Skills and competence. The CPD programs offered by RNMU provide a pathway for nurses and midwives to maintain and develop their professional practice so that their knowledge, skills and performance standards are improved and empower them to provide competent and safe medical and health care.
The purpose of the CPD trainings is to further support nurses and midwives to develop a culture of continued learning, acquire new knowledge and skills, and ensure appropriate delivery of healthcare services to the community. Given the rapid pace of new research and developments in all areas of health care, nurses and midwives must continue to update their knowledge and skills on a regular basis to keep up with the benefits of health care innovations and research findings.
RNMU has in the past organized CPD trainings on family planning and postpartum family planning (FP & PPFP), leadership, advocacy to mention but a few.
Due to the outbreak of the COVID – 19 pandemic, RNMU partnered with World Continuing Education Alliance (WCEA) to offer CPD trainings to RNMU members.
The partnership with WCEA has been very instrumental in our continued quest to provide a pathway for nurses and midwives to maintain and develop their professional practice so that their knowledge, skills and performance standards are improved and empowered to provide competent and safe medical care.
The Rwanda Nurses and Midwives Union in collaboration with the WCEA (partner of the International Council of Nurses) is providing all members with access to a Mobile App & Online CPD & training platform.
These trainings have further provided an opportunity for nurses and midwives to enhance their curriculum vitae and professional reputation and a sense of improved responsibilities towards patients / customers.
Nurses and Midwives have received various trainings through this partnership that range from leadership, time management, advocacy, webinar on introduction to the WHO labor care Guide to mention but a few.
After successful completion of the training, points and completion certificates have been awarded to members.
The collaboration with WCEA has enabled members’ free access to an App that contains current and relevant topics such as Vaccine Handling and Administration, Mental Health & Psychosocial Support, and much more. Members are also able to study the resources offline.
