Rwanda nurses and Midwives Union is a combined professional organization and trade union that seeks to advocate and protect the nursing and midwifery profession in aspects of labor, social and economic development. The vision of the Union is to have an empowered nurse and midwife who is motivated to provide high quality service and uphold professional excellence while enjoying quality life.
As a member based organization, recruitment of new members and retaining of existing members is very important and dear to Rwanda Nurses and Midwives Union.
Today RNMU has over 8700 members out of the over 12,000 registered nurses and midwives in Rwanda. Therefore, efforts are being done to ensure that all registered nurses and midwives are members of RNMU hence membership mobilization initiatives are being performed
RNMU believes in providing high quality, ethical, accessible, and equitable nursing and midwifery services to all members to enable them live quality lives. RNMU aims to have an empowered nurse and midwife who is motivated to provide high quality service and uphold professional excellence while enjoying quality life vision. It is committed to being a vibrant, self-sustaining organization that will protect the professional image, improve Socio-Economic Welfare and promote the interests of nurses and midwives through effective representation, capacity building and lead in the delivery of high quality care to the population.
Therefore, seeks to be as closer to members as possible to interact with them, understand their challenges better and serve members with excellence.
It is in this regard thus, that RNMU Provincial Coordinator for Western and Northern provinces Harelimana Leodmir conducted visits to RNMU members working in Rutsiro and Rubavu Districts. The Visits were made with an aim of:
- Check off system implementation for new recruited members
- Sensitization and recruitment of new members
In Rubavu district, the sensitization and Recruitment campaign was carried out in the health centers of Gisenyi, Nyakiliba, Mudende, Kabari, Kigufi and Busigari and Gisenyi District Hospital while in Rutsiro the exercise was carried out in Karumbi, Musasa, Cyimbiri Iwawa Health Centers and Murunda District Hospital.
