On the 25 of October 2019, the RNMU staff were introduced to a strategic membership workshop through the use of the membership model. The staff were encouraged to take good care all the union members who approach them for any service that is entitled to them as right.
Mbabazi Perpetua the RNMU vice president called upon the participants to always apply LEAP Listen actively, Empathy, Acceptance, and Problem solve in order to handle the different member cases.
Sheja Innocent, the RNMU General Secretary introduced the participants to strategic through recruiting, activating and keeping members. Members should be recruited but also contribute and follow up the activities of the union and also keep in the union as members. An active members is one who contributes their membership fee but also follows up the activities of the union, however it is the union’s responsibilities to follow up the member’s activeness.
Important points were in line with the Reflecting, Analyzing, Attracting, Recruiting Introducing, Handling, Activating and Evaluating of the union members and services but all to end in fulfilling the mission of the Union
The staff were called upon to be responsible in handling the members as their bosses and they should always explain the realistic benefits/expectations to members
The workshop was for encompassing the staff with change for the good of the members after criticism. In order to activate, all members should be treated equally regardless of who they are.
The workshop was wrapped with strategic communication. Strategic communication keeps the members updated about the union activities.
The workshop shall be continuous amongest the RNMU leadership and staffing.
