RNMU Conducted Training for CHUK Shop Stewards

The Rwanda Nurses and Midwives Union (RNMU) conducted a training session for CHUK shop stewards aimed at strengthening their understanding of the union’s mission, vision, and key roles.

During the training, emphasis was placed on building a strong and sustainable organisation through effective leadership, active membership, and continuous professional growth. Participants explored the core pillars of RNMU, including capacity building through Continuous Professional Development (CPD), conferences, and trainings; provision of social and legal support to members; and ongoing advocacy for the nursing and midwifery profession.

The session also covered national labour laws and trade union rights, helping participants understand how legal frameworks protect workers and how unions defend these rights.  Interactive discussions and practical learning approaches were used to enhance engagement and knowledge sharing.

In the closing remarks, participants were encouraged to remain united, confident, and proactive in contributing to the growth and visibility of the profession, while supporting one another and the next generation of nurses and midwives.
