This week, The Rwanda Nurses and Midwives Union (RNMU) is conducting a capacity-building training for workplace representatives from Kirehe and Ruhango districts to strengthen their leadership skills and enhance their ability to represent and support members effectively.
The training equips participants with knowledge on key labour standards, including the role of the International Labour Organization (ILO), core ILO conventions and their national implementation, occupational safety and health, ministerial orders related to labour standards, leadership in promoting compliance with labour standards, and ILO Convention No. 190 on eliminating violence and harassment in the world of work.
Participants are also receiving training on Gender Equity and Equality, covering gender fundamentals, gender norms, gender power dynamics, women's and girls' empowerment, the human rights-based approach, the gender-transformative approach, gender-based violence and harassment, as well as Rwanda's legal, policy, and institutional frameworks for promoting gender equality.
This training reflects RNMU's ongoing commitment to strengthening the capacity of workplace representatives to promote decent work, protect labour rights, create safe and inclusive workplaces, and advance gender equality within the nursing and midwifery profession.
